…as well as our competitive advantage is our innovative electromagnetic topology.

It enables all of the desired properties of an in-wheel electric motor. It was carefully thought trough and calculated by an accomplished physicist, innovator and philosopher Andrej Detela and is part of a 20 year-old vision that has been brought to life by the Elaphe team. We constantly expand the theory and integrate it into new solutions. The main performance advantages of this electromagnetic topology are:

These all point to application in an in-wheel motor. It just makes sense.
…of the electromagnetic topology reveals carefully designed parts of the motor geometry, each carrying a purpose.
Rotor magnets are permanent neodymium magnets, that are commonly used in permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM) and therefore commercially available. Moreover, all of the design materials including copper wires, electric steel lamination, steel rotor and the before mentioned magnets are standard. When combined with low weight of the used material and simplicity of construction it provides a great starting point for cost reduction.
…have been tested and improved throughout prototype and project history.
The cooling has been done either by air or water cooling and is manageable even in high power loss regime because of the good winding-to-steel thermal contact.
We are using either simple hall sensors or advanced innovative position resolvers for determining the starting position and we are exploring sensorless methods for continuous operation.
For most applications controllers are either available off-the-shelf or can be developed in cooperation with our trusted partners. Depending on the application, different electric gear approaches can be implemented, including field weakening, delta-wye switching and some other winding configuration settings.
It all comes together when optimized with our optimization tool, for a complete match of all the systems.
